Mark Rohr on KZRG: There's some talk about me being reinstated

Fired Joplin City Manager Mark Rohr thinks there is a strong possibility he will soon be back on the job.

"There's some talk about me being reinstated in my position," Rohr said moments ago during an interview with KZRG. "I haven't ruled that out."

That could happen if there is a change in the City Council at the upcoming municipal election.

"There is an election coming in April, I expect the citizens will take care of that, if my messages are any indication."

Rohr said the report by Osage Beach investigator Tom Loraine that cost him his job was "not worth the paper it was written on," referring to it as "a red herring."

The 10 pages that have not been released to the public were full of "rumor and innuendo," Rohr said, adding that it included "half-truths and baldfaced lies."

Rohr said three-fourths of the complaints that were included in that section of the report came from former Water Department employees that he had either fired or would have fired if they had not resigned following controversies in that department last year.

"These people have an ax to grind."

During the interview, Rohr called City Attorney Brian Head, who recommended the hiring of Loraine, a liar and said there was "a conspiracy" to remove him as city manager.

Rohr said he would not be releasing the 10 pages of the report that were redacted from the public version at the present time."I need to talk about that with my lawyer." Rohr said he had refuted everything that was in those 10 pages."

In a Facebook post Wednesday, Rohr said he would be revealing information about "extensive corruption" in Joplin. The KZRG interview was not the forum for doing that, he said, but he added that he would be releasing the information "within the next couple of weeks."

A full podcast of the Mark Rohr interview can be found at KZRG's website.

If he has refuted the 10 pages as lies, then let the public see it.The only reason to talk to a lawyer is to get advise if he is civilly or criminally liable for what's in the report.

Or...if there's a legal liability of him releasing this report without permission from the city. Let's not jump to every conclusion.

he will never release those 10 pages. It may be ok in ohio to smack people around but most people frown on it here, except for the globe editor the police chief and 4 council members. There is still a recording of the 911 call and the investigator has a copy of it. It should be released to the public and all debate would end. he wants to be re-instated to silence people and handout payback to anyone that dared expose him.

Does anyone recall another city manager that was run out of town in the early 80's. His name was strib boy ton. He went.to ft. Smith and took them from a major tornado that destroyed the old downtown and replaced it with a modern convention center. He was ther for 16 years and in 1998 was hired to manage the city of high point nc. If you google his bio at the city web page you will see a man who has accomplished much. He is held in high regard.
But I guess that just shows the wisdom of our city leaders to dismiss city managers.

kzrg and carol stark must have went to the same school of investigative reporting. I think it is called USAM or the university of smoke and mirrors.

someone needs to request open records documents for all correspondence between rohr and the globe because something is amiss there. maybe we can get rid of 2 problems at once

to 4:02 I wonder if strib wrote a book in the basement of city hall while working tirelessly to clean up his tornado? the sacrifices they make for $13,000 a month are hard for us ordinary people to grasp

if he gets reinstated he could hire an investigator to investigate the investigator and clear up all the half truths, innuendo blah, blah, blah or just release the 10 pages and let us decide?

anyway his contract states that he can be terminated with or without cause at any time so everyone is arguing a mute point. all it took was a 5-4 vote at any time. Missouri is an "at will" state

to 4:02 before we all get teary eyed over past city managers, remember a city manager named steve lewis who ran out of town as fast as he could? and days later the news broke that $15 million had been lost? Maybe some people on council remember that mistake or do we have to make the same mistakes over and over?

Why is it the Globe is only printing articles and letters supporting Mr.Rohr. Maybe their is a connection between them and this downtown land deal. Remember to find the truth FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Mark Rohr is a backstabbing, lying, grandstander. Hell he belongs in the Missouri State Legislature.
