Motion filed to reduce $1 million bond for man accused of murdering MSSU coach

Neosho attorney Ross Rhoades filed a motion in Jasper County Circuit Court Thursday seeking to reduce Jeffrey Bruner's bond from $1 million.

Bruner, 40, Joplin, is charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the November 1 shooting of Missouri Southern State University offensive line coach Derek Moore in the parking lot outside the Northstar Regal 14 Theater.

Rhoades also filed a motion to allow Bruner to wear his own clothing and not to have restraints during his next hearing.

A motion for a change of venue will be taken up Friday, March 28, in Judge Gayle Crane's courtroom.

A motions hearing is scheduled for April 14.
