Joplin R-8 expects less from math, science teachers than clerical workers

A few moment ago, I posted the Joplin R-8 School District's advertisement for a new JHS girls basketball coach. It was much smaller than the richly detailed descriptions the district has provided for some of its other positions. Advertisements for clerical workers have been lengthy and detailed.

This, on the other hand, is how the district is advertising for a new sixth grade math teacher at East Middle School:

This person should possess either a middle school or secondary math certificate.

That's it. That's the whole thing. And how about this one for an eighth grade science teacher at East?

This person should possess certification in either Middle School or secondary Science

Could it be with more than 100 teachers leaving the district last year and a similar number leaving the year before, the C. J. Huff Administration cannot afford to be picky about who they hire to teach the children of the Joplin R-8 School District?

I read that as the minimum requirement would be to be certified to teach at that level. It doesn't discourage someone who is certified at a higher level to apply. Much like many ads would say High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

And what do mean "clerical workers?" The only thing wrong here is the insult you threw at anyone who works in the clerical field.

I work in the clerical field and I do not take offense at anything that has been written. I only see someone trying to create problems for Mr. Turner. I have seen the long advertisements for clerical workers and they are just as ridiculous as Mr. Turner said.

Mr. Turner,
Do you know what happened to Coach Mac (Mr. MacQueeney) at the 11/12 high school? All of a sudden he was just gone, no explanation to the kids. He was outspoken but an excellent teacher, and well-liked. Any info?
