As a taxpayer and retired Joplin schools employee, I am curious as to what the district is planning to do with the empty buildings now that we have spent way too many millions of dollars on this eyesore. Emerson elementary, which is literally two blocks from the new high school, sits boarded up and the neighborhood kids who were previously able to walk to school are now being bused to others schools. I'm not sure what the plans are for Duquesne and Duenweg elementary schools but they will probably sit empty too until another superintendent comes in and has to clean up another of CJ Huff's messes.
