Globe reports on C. J. Huff lawsuit, doesn't acknowledge mistakes

The Joplin Globe was a little quicker on reporting on a lawsuit involving the Joplin R-8 School District this time.

The Globe was only six days behind the Turner Report when it noted that a lawsuit filed by former Royal Heights Principal Larry Masters against former R-8 Assistant Superintendent Angie Besendorfer had been dismissed.

The only problem was that Masters refiled the suit, adding Superintendent C. J. Huff as a defendant, hours before the Globe posted reporter Emily Younker's story,

Anyone who expected the Globe to acknowledge that embarrassing circumstance when it posted the story today about the refiled lawsuit should have known better.

The story only mentions that the lawsuit was filed "last week" in Jasper County Circuit Court.

It is getting hard to take the Globe seriously.

The only thing more embarrassing than the Globe in this city is the school superintendent. But then, they are mighty snuggly together. Downright inseparable.

Then I guess someone who donated $111,000 to the State Auditor last month would have to be considered "mighty snuggly" with said state officer, no?

Or is your sanctimony selective?

Interesting that someone who scours campaign finance disclosures and is happy to report every dime Billy Long picks up off the sidewalk, and even reported in 2012 an enormous donation by Humphreys to Schweich, somehow missed a $111,000 donation just last month.

And Schweich isn't running for election this year. Ahh, but he's running for governor in 2016.

But Mr. Humphreys just wants what's best for Joplin Public Schools.

Didn't Schweich try to hold up money for Joplin's recovery after the tornado? Wasn't Eric Cantor ripped on this blog just last week for the same insensitivity?

Randy Turner still had a job back in 2012, when it was safe to report Humphreys' enormous gift of money to Schweich.

David Humphreys may end up being the best friend C. J. Huff has.

I thought Huff was dying to have this audit. He certainly seemed to think it was a good idea to make sure they were using the public funds and donations wisely and to set an example for all other disaster-stricken areas. So why so defensive? If Huff really wants this audit, then he has nothing to fear, and therefore the auditor cannot hurt him, so really, why not thank Humphreys for allowing Huff to lead the way for all other communities? Your insults, 6:58 and 7:42, smack of desperation. You're definitely not helping the cause.
