Joplin R-8/WGU partnership a conflict of interest. slap in the face to MSSU

Missouri Southern State University has worked hand-in-hand for years with the Joplin R-8 School District on everything from operation of Franklin Tech to the university serving as a Bright Futures partner for Joplin High School and East Middle School.

Missouri Southern also offers night classes, online courses, graduate courses, and is based right here in the city. Other colleges and universities in Missouri also offer online courses.

So naturally, when it came time for the C. J. Huff Administration to form a partnership for online education for Joplin R-8 employees, it turned to Western Governors University Missouri, which has Missouri in its name, but it is a private university operated out of Utah.

Of course, the chancellor of Western Governors University is former R-8 Assistant Superintendent Angie Besendorfer, who got her job thanks to a member of the Western Governors University Missouri Board- C. J. Huff.

According to reports, this is the first such deal WGU has made with any Missouri school district and it is the first such deal Joplin R-8 has made with a college or university.

This smacks of conflict of interest.

It is also a slap in the face to Missouri Southern State University.

Question-Was this partnership supported by the Board of Education?

Joplin Schools Partner With WGU Missouri

"It provides us an opportunity to not only attract teachers that have that type of training, but also to grow our own teachers that, that need additional training as well. And these are high quality programs. Obviously, the end result of any additional education should be improved teacher quality and job satisfaction," said Dr. C.J. Huff
Joplin R-8 Superintendent."

What a slimeball. Everything he does is because there is something in it for him or one of his buddies.

I hope MSSU sends you a bill for every day they have housed FTC. Although, I doubt he even knows FTC exists except when he wants to scam the state or feds for money by claiming it's for Franklin Tech.

If it's not a conflict of interest to scrupulously note large campaign contributions to the state auditor in 2010 and 2012, then overlook an even bigger one only three weeks before the auditor agreed to an audit requested by that donor--a donor who also gave money to the owner of this blog, then the WGU thing doesn't bother me.

If businessmen will drink my blood;
like the kids in art school said they would;
then I guess I'll just begin again;
you say can we still be friends?
If I were scared I would.
If I were pure I would.
If I were yours, but I'm not.

I thought the TLC's were supposed to help grow the teachers. Maybe they'll do their homework for them.
