Campaign contributors pay for Tim Jones' $7,000 golf outing

"A feast for the senses- a haven for the soul."

That is how Streamsong Golf Resort in Streamsong, Florida, advertises its facility and it boasts of having two of the top 100 golf courses in the United States.

According to his quarterly financial disclosure report, filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission, campaign contributors paid more than $7,000 for Speaker of the House Tim Jones, R-Eureka, an avid golfer, to go to Streamsong with the outing billed as "fundraising expense/"

It must have been preparation for fundraising since the document does not show any contributions that were made to Jones that day.

His expenditures include $6,176, $245, and $319, all on April 7 and $417 for Southwest Airlines air fare the same day.

Jones, who is term limited, is listed as running for an unspecified statewide office in 2016.

The report shows that Jones is in good shape for a campaign with more than one million dollars in his bank account. He received $65,295 in contributions and spent $25,613.33, leaving him with $1,001,808.56.
