Reiboldt drops out of debate because special interest group didn't want him to do it

Local High School Debate Coach Ashley Rouse will moderate questions from the audience tomorrow as Southwest Missouri Democrats sponsors an informational forum featuring former Missouri Lt. Governor and State Representative Joe Maxwell (D). A debate on this amendment was planned, but the Sponsor of the amendment Missouri State Representative Bill Reiboldt (R), has withdrawn his participation.

Representative Reiboldt asked that this statement be released in conjunction with his withdrawal: "Missouri Farmers Care asked me to not be on the same program with Joe Maxwell because of his employment with HSUS (Humane Society of the United States). I will honor their request."

An invitation to debate Amendment One (Right to Farm) has been sent to all other local Republican State Representatives in an effort to fully inform Southwest Missouri voters about both sides of the issue.

Southwest Missouri Democrats have not come out in favor or against Amendment One and a vote is planned for Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at their monthly Town Hall style meeting.

The informational event on Amendment One (Right to Farm) is open to all members of the public and will take place in the Criminal Justice Auditorium at MSSU on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 1pm.
