Four finalists announced for Joplin city manager position

(From the City of Joplin)

Joplin Mayor Mike Seibert and members of the City Council are pleased to announce that four candidates have been selected as finalists for the position of City Manager and have been invited for an interview with the City Council. Candidates include Sam Anselm of Joplin, Mo., Dean Kruithof from Bentonville, Ark., Stephen Rasmussen from Jefferson City, Mo., and Randy Wetmore of Marshalltown, Iowa. More than 40 applications were received in the search process.

Three candidates will be in Joplin on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25, with one of the candidate’s visit taking place on Saturday, November 1, due to conflicts in his schedule for the October weekend.

Three of the City Council interviews are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25. On Friday, Oct. 24, these candidates will be provided a driving tour of Joplin, including City facilities and parks, corporations, schools and other areas. In addition, a community reception will be held during Friday afternoon. Arrangements for the community reception and other activities are currently being finalized and will be announced in coming days.

The fourth candidate will be hosted to these events during his visit on Saturday, Nov. 1. Media will be able to meet with the fourth candidate during mid-morning, and a community reception will follow that session, with the Council interview taking place in the afternoon.

Details about these visits will be announced as the schedule is finalized with the candidates.

Why cater to the guy who couldn't show up with the other 3 unless it was the current city manager and the city had him out of town on business
