Gary Bandy leaving KSN

Gary Bandy, a long-time fixture on KSN doing the weather on the station's 4, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts, and earlier as the co-host of the station's morning program, is calling it quits.

Bandy announced on Monday's Living Well program that a week from Wednesday, November 26, will be his last day.

Bandy, who was a popular radio disc jockey in the area before making the move to television, was co-host, along with Tiffany Alaniz of the morning Hometown Today program between 1997 and 2002 and became the station's chief meteorologist in 2003.

Gary Bandy has been and still is a bright spot on television and in the community. He will be missed by hundreds if not thousands of viewers and friends.
Best wishes to him and his family.

It might seem like a small thing, but after our family barely survived the tornado, during all those tornadic and stormy episodes since then, this one guy made me feel secure and connected to the outside world. I don't expect that to make any sense to anyone who hasn't shared that feeling.

Gary, I promise you you mean a whole lot more to a whole lot of people than you will ever know.

God bless you, and...

THANK YOU!

Not revered by all

I agree with 12:35; we hid while the tornado tore our house apart around us, and now the only way I can listen to bad weather forecasts is with Mr. Bandy. No sensationalism, no hysteria--just a clear report of the level of danger. We will miss him.

I don't know about Gary's other talents but a weatherman is not one of them. I wish him luck.
KSN better keep Stacey if they want to keep anyone watching their station for weather.

Being a "goober" or a goofball was why I like Gary. He will be missed in our house!

I liked him. He will be missed greatly. Stacey is good also. Carla Pasona is the one that is horrible!!!!!!! If they keep her on the air any much longer I will go to FOX.

I'm really going to miss him! I think his sense of humor is great, he made the news more enjoyable. Thank you Gary for all the great years, you're one in a million.

I can't blame Gary for leaving, I would have gone crazy long before this If I had to nightly give 4 forecasts for the same area night after night. Now for S E Kansas, N E Oklahoma, NW Arkansas and finally SW Missouri. It's 71 in Miami,72 in Joplin,71 in Neosho, and 70 in Parsons. Most nights the weather could be given in 1 minute or less but they stretch it out for the advertising. Drives me crazy ad gives the viewer little credit for intelligence. I watch the 7 day forecast on a recording, and leave the mundane mention of every town in the viewing area erased. I hate the weather format on TV.

My take, Gary was very good. Stacey is very good, Carla has improved and is good going towards very good. Nick Kelly is very good, Dave Pylant is very good, Alan Matthews is very good, and Ray Foreman is very good. Who does that leave, oh yeah, Doug Heady can slow down the hand gestures, his arrogance, stop the "Aheady" thoughts and show some interest in doing the weather. I am glad I do not have to take a class from him.

I don't understand how KSN can leave Carla Pesono on the air. She can't complete a sentence and she knows nothing about the weather. KSN has at least two qualified meteorologist in Stacy and Jessica. If they don't make use of them, many of us will be watching Fox or Channel 7.
