Joplin City Council names Bhend public defender

Joplin Mayor Mike Seibert has announced that the Joplin City Council recently voted to hire Jonathan D. Bhend as the Joplin Public Defender.

Bhend is a Joplin native and a graduate of Joplin High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and obtained is Juris Doctorate from the University Of Missouri School Of Law in Kansas City. He is the principal of the Bhend Law Firm. He has been in private practice in Joplin for many years. Jonathan and his wife, Pamela, who is also an attorney, reside in Joplin with their two young boys.

The current Public Defender, Aldo Dominguez, has resigned, effective December 31, 2014, and Bhend will begin work on January 1, 2015.
