Billy Long spends $172K during quarter, only takes in $99K

You won't find many traces of fiscal conservatism in the campaign finance report Seventh District Congressman Billy Long submitted to the Federal Election Commission Wednesday.

Long collected $99,325 during the last three months, but spent $172,099.18, including four trips to Las Vegas and nearly $10,000 for meals, as reported Saturday on the Turner Report.

Close to two-thirds of Long's contributions, $66,000 came from political action committees including the following:

Monsanto
General Electric
National Rifle Association
Ameren
Boeing
Amgen
Expedia
National Energy Medicine
National Shooting Sports Foundation
Exelon Corporation
CVS/Caremark
American Bankers Association
John Deere
COALPAC
Deliotte
Dairy Farmers of America
Enterprise Holdings
Anthem
Verizon Wireless
Edward Jones
Merck
GlaxoSmithKline
Eli Lilly

At the end of the reporting period, Long had $673,720.10 in his campaign account.
