Governor candidate calls for Nixon to protect National Guard members

(From Missourians for John Brunner)

Today John Brunner released a statement following the terrorist attack on the United States Marine Corps facility in Chattanooga, TN and called on Governor Jay Nixon to take immediate action in Missouri:

"My prayers are with the families of the Sailor and Marines who when ambushed in
an apparent terrorist attack gave their lives in the service of their country. As a father and former Marine officer this is especially troubling. I urge Governor Jay Nixon to immediately issue the appropriate orders to ensure that our national guardsmen and women are appropriately protected while on duty at military installations in Missouri to include recruiting stations. Now is the time to send a message to terrorists that our guardsmen and women are armed, protected, and ready to engage in times of danger. Protecting life and preventing a senseless tragedy from occurring again should be our highest priority in Missouri."

Regarding this call for action, Brunner noted that six other states have already ordered or authorized the arming of National Guard members as of Monday.

If King O. Tells him it's OK he'll do it.

I'm personally in favor of this action. Our military men and women have already taken a vow to put their lives on the line for this country so I feel they deserve every opportunity to defend themselves.
