Joplin R-8 Board approves hiring of 21 employees

During a closed meeting following Tuesday night's work session, the Joplin R-8 Board of Education approved the hiring of 21 employees.

Those hired and their pay are listed below:

Misti Ard,, special education paraprofessional, $10.54 an hour
Donald Atkinson special education paraprofessional $10.54 an hour
Daylan Burton, substitute bus driver, $13.93 an hour
Deborah Crocker, food service substitute $11.04 an hour
Brian Drake, substitute bus driver, $13.93 an hour
Tina Felker, food service substitute $11.04 an hour
Elizabeth Freund, food service substitute $11.04 an hour
Edith Garcia, food service substitute $11.04 an hour
Bonita Goodall, special education paraprofessional $10.54 an hour
Christina Grubb, food service substitute, $11.04 an hour
Wendell Hart, substitute bus driver, $13.93 an hour
Amy Holstrom, food service substitute, $11.04 an hour
Harold Logan, food service substitute, $11.04 an hour
Devin Marshall, substitute bus driver, $13.93 an hour
Oma Nichols, food service substitute, $11.04 an hour
Ashley Pomeroy, special education paraprofessional $10.54 an hour

Ridder held true to his word and published wages. I hope those already employed will be shown soon, including stipends and hidden retirement accounts. Salaries of new secretaries compared to old. It could be very interesting for taxpayers wanting transparency.

This is off topic but I don't know where else to ask. Has anyone else had a hard time getting their kids enrolled in school? Is it always this way in Joplin? It's been days since we went to the enrollment center and we still haven't heard anything or signed the kids up for any classes.

Just wondering...

If you are transferring your child(ren) in to Joplin schools the delay may be due to your child's previous school taking awhile to fax in records. You may want to call in to your former school to check their status.

If your child(ren) attended Joplin last year then I have no idea.
