It is gratifying to see Ford get the opportunity to sink his teeth into a meaty story, which today contained the following nugget:
(McDonald County Deputy Mike)LeSueur said there was no probable cause to remove the remaining eight children from the compound, as the accused (Raymond Lambert, Patty Lambert, Paul Epling, and Tom Epling) are no longer present. He said the four are believed to be staying in a travel trailer out of state. No warrant has been issued for their arrest at this time. Steve Geeding, McDonald County prosecutor, said he just discussed the matter with a judge, who said the four could leave the state, as long as they return for a preliminary hearing Oct. 2. McDonald County Associate Circuit Court Judge John LePage is presiding in the case.

Ford does like to sink his teeth into things. But in all seriousness, this guy is a crackerjack reporter who is unappreciated by the powers that be. He has had numerous opportunities to jump ship to larger papers, but remains loyal to the Neosho Daily News. He's definitely overdue for a pay hike!
Judge LePage,
And if they don't show for the preliminary hearing then what? Ooops....made anotehr boo boo? You are acting like this is a joke. And to the millions of us watching you it is no joke!
Hey John - yes, I've seen some of the things you've sunk your teeth into - at least I've seen the crumbs in your wastebasket.....and I had to read that last line again....I first thought it said you were overdue a hike, but you've been very steady at that.
When I read it more carefully, I agree....a pay hike is what you need!
John, you do great work and you burn CDs perfectly!
Signed: You know who, John Boy
We love John Ford. Now if only we could love Buzz Ball and Todd Higdon. It just isn't going to happen though with their skills, or should I say lack of skills!
I have heard that the publisher's salary is so high at Neosho, that they can't afford to give raises or hire better reporters.
