Tennessee man writing Ken Boyer biography

One of the first times I can remember my heart being broken was following the 1965 baseball season when the St. Louis Cardinals traded my favorite player, third baseman Ken Boyer, to the New York Mets.

Boyer, as many Turner Report readers know, came from the Alba area and along with his brothers, including fellow major leaguers Cloyd and Clete, played in sporting activities all across the area.

Today's KOM League Report from former Carthage resident John Hall, has a message from Kevin McCann, who is working on a Ken Boyer biography:

Kevin McCann is writing a book on the life and playing career of Ken Boyer. He is interested in contacting anyone who knew him in Alba or played amateur ball with or against him. Kevin's e-mail address is kdmccann27@comcast.net . His mailing address is 204 Delaney Circle, Dickson TN 37055. He also has a website about Ken at www.kenboyer.net

This is one book I am looking forward to reading.

I loved Kenny Boyer, and was absolutely devastated when they traded him. How I remember the '64 series and the grand slam. Am looking forward to reading the book

Mr. Turner,

Thank you for helping spread the word about my book project on the life and career of Ken Boyer. I'm very interested to know more about the Alba Aces, the Junior Cardinal League, and amateur ball in and around Alba during the Boyer boys' childhood. Thanks again!

My name is Ken Boyer and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Boyer while he managed the Rochester Red Wings. It was an enjoyable meeting, he was a great guy, and he made me an unofficial bat boy for the rest of the game so he could say he played with his namesake! One of my best childhood memories! kenboyer.org

I loved Ken Boyer and he was my favorite. My brother played all sports while I grew up so I loved sports. The clud our family were member at had a gentleman to tell me that the family he thought was in Alba, Mo. I wrote a letter to Boyer Family Alba, Mo.. To my surprise I received a response from Marcy Boyer, his sister. We became pen pals for years. I qwnt to games and have his autograph Julie Best Wishes Ken Boyer.

I followed Ken throughout his career. I kept in touch with Marcy Boyer also. I hated for Cards to trade Ken and when he passed away.
