The hearing has been postponed on three occasions. If Njoroge does not enter a guilty plea, motions will be heard and the case will proceed toward an October 5 trial date.
Njoroge is represented by Springfield attorney Dee Wampler.
The probable cause statement says Njoroge is being charged with an after-hours sex act with an 18-year-old high school student that allegedly took place Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in her office at the school.

Being he was 18 at the time I'm not sure what the charge(s) will be? I'm assuming because it was done on school grounds & she is or was his teacher, it will be along those lines? When I read cases like this I have to wonder.... If it was a male teacher & a female student, how would this play out? I'm a male asking this question & in NO way excusing her behavior! Period! What she did was WRONG!
From looking at her charges on casenet, there is apparently a specific law regarding sexual contact between students and school employees; I would assume w/o knowing for certain that such a law was specifically enacted for those instances that fall outside of laws applicable to sexual contact between minors and adults.
I'm not sure how I feel about such a law. I agree that it represents such an ethical violation that it should result in loss-of-job and loss-of-license. It seems unfair that, if there is an age-of-consent that is generally accepted by society and the law, she should be punished additionally by the law. The loss of job, licensure, and probably marriage/family seems appropriate and enough given the student was 18 and therefore a legal adult.
