Care to elaborate? What did they do that was idiotic?
Jesus Christ, Martucci is a clown. Please please please please don't ever let her be in charge of a board meeting ever again. Can she get through a sentence without giggling like a 7 year old girl? This is ridiculous, I was hoping after the last board was cleaned out that we would at least have a sense of professionalism here. She couldn't even clarify the date of the report early on in the meeting, then just laughs and giggles all the way through the meeting after stumbling over almost everything. Please bring Koch back. Later on she cannot even differentiate between a mileage reimbursement and approved expenses. Half of the stuff that comes out of her mouth is nonsense and useless.
Seriously 6:55 and I guess you could run the meeting better? You people are cold and judgmental...things are finally getting done, people who were bad for the district are leaving, with more to come. Why not focus on the work they are doing to right the ship and not launch personal attacks because someone who may be a little nervous shows it. Get over yourself.
@10:49 Other than firing a bunch of people how has the new board moved the needle? Scores are still in the tank, they still have debt, spent over a million on legal fees for just one case so far, screwed the teachers on health insurance.......
@5:35 The legal fees are for a situation this BoE inherited. What would you have them do? Firing several people needed to be done. Behaviors are improving. Scores are improving even if they are still low, and there are plans being made to address curriculum and assessment. So, Rome wasn't built in a year, and as Dr. Ridder said when he got here, it'll take years and years to clean up the mess made by Huff and the old BoE. I'm assuming if you could do so much better that you are volunteering to be on the forums and you will be running for the BoE and providing suggestions? We would love to have your supposed expertise in the district.
@5:35 PM: When you start out with a terrible situation, recovery is likely to be slow. In this case, as is common, people are policy, and getting rid of the right ones was the highest priority after stopping the excessive spending. Which is exactly what we're seeing, except for the legal fees in the P1 case.
Which I imagine they couldn't drop without suffering a really bad settlement, and they're no doubt being told they have a real case against the company. Otherwise, how do you suggest they fix so quickly any of the other problems you cite? Scores aren't likely to improve for some time, especially with all the new teachers needing time to gain experience. The other problems are money ones, and the only things they can do about them are the above mentioned stop the bleeding, and either wait and slowly work them out while crossing their fingers on the P1 lawsuit and FEMA reimbursements, or try for another tax increase, which obviously isn't going to fly any time soon.
Bottom line, Huff had years to mess up the district, and it's going to take years to recover.

Who is the clueless blonde attempting to run this meeting? What the he'll, that's a joke. Any professionalism?
@ 5:56 Amen! Beware the trolls.

@ 5:56 and 6:55 - Huff? Is that you?
And 5 years down the road, when the district has been taken over by the state, the current BOE will thank you for your support!
