A motion for bond reduction for former Carl Junction R-1 choir teacher Craig Smith was filed Monday in Jasper County Circuit Court.
Smith, who faces stalking and child pornography charges is being held in the Jasper County Detention Center on a $400,000 cash-only bond.
In his motion, Neosho attorney Jonathan Pierce notes that his client "has no prior felony or misdemeanor findings of guilt or convictions, excepting traffic."
Pierce says Smith is able to gain part time employment and asks for "reasonable bond."
Smith's next hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Jasper County Courts Building in Joplin.

No prior convictions because he had been er been caught. He has been inappropriate with young kids for years!!!
I agree. The school knew what he was reprimanded for . He should not be allowed anywhere near children.
“able to gain part time employment” I understand the Casey’s General Store in Briarbrook would hire him.
What about all that money he paid into the teacher's union, can't he start taking retirement after 30-years of service, no matter what age, I do not believe that teachers can take out a loan and borrow from retirement in Missouri?
Plus, the Missouri National Education Association (MNEA) and the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA) offer legal services to their members. These services include free consultations, discounted legal fees, and representation at hearings.
I would hope that the victim and her family goes after him and CJ School Board and the Administration.
The MNEA provides Educator Employment Liability (EEL) policy: Provides $4 million in professional liability insurance.
The MSTA provides Personal liability insurance: Provides up to $2 million in personal liability insurance per occurrence.
This does not count the liability insurance of the CJ School Board and CJ Administration. So, for all you Lawyers out there - It is time to secure the Victim and her Family to look at Civil Proceedings.
If Craig Smith, facing years in jail, could possible find a job and other Felons can find a jobs, their is no excuse for all you people sitting at home - go to work!
He’ll probably go work in a church somewhere. He was active in several churches in the WC/Joplin/Lamar areas. 🤬
