The Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney's office upgraded the charges against a Wentworth man who allegedly shot an Amazon delivery driver after the driver died.
Thomas Coy, 64, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to the probable cause statement, a witness saw the Amazon driver, Jasmine Sky Taylor, 23, Joplin, drive off Lawrence County Road 2152 and crashing into a fence.
From the probable cause statement:
On February 5,2025 at 5:44pm Lawrence Co. Dispatch received a phone call from Mercy Joplin Hospital that advised that V-1 had a bullet wound and the bullet was lodged in their head.
On February 5, 2025 I was able to watch video from Amazon that showed V-1 driving and as the vehicle came up to the driveway
up to 3902 Lawrence 2152, V-1 slumped over in the vehicle seat.
The residence was IDed as the home of Thomas Coy, Mr. Coy was contacted and advised Miranda rights and confessed to shooting V-1 with a pellet rifle and saw the vehicle crash into the fence. Mr. Coy admitted to going to the Amazon vehicle and taking the V-1 from the seat laying V-1 in the ditch roadside.
Coy's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. March 6 in Lawrence County Circuit Court.
Coy is being held without bond.
Thomas Coy, is a Crazy Loon - that just needs to be taken out of Society and locked up for life.

ReplyDeleteThere are some powerful pellet rifles. There's .22 caliber pellets that are like a .22 rifle. Pumped or powered with CO2 they could easily kill someone.
DeleteThey're not cheap. A lot of them are used in shooting competitions. I'm guessing that she has her window down because I don't think it would be able to penetrate the window and still have enough power to kill her.
