City of Joplin announces opening of J-HAP 3 program to all eligible homebuyers

(From the City of Joplin)

The City of Joplin is pleased to announce that the highly popular JHAP (Joplin Homebuyer Assistance Program) is now opening a third round to all low‑to‑moderate income households who meet federal income requirements and intend to purchase a home within Joplin city limits.

JHAP‑3 provides down‑payment and closing‑cost assistance up to $40,000 on a first‑come, first‑served basis. With only $1,000,000 in total funding, eligible households are strongly encouraged to apply early before funds are depleted.

JHAP-3 was originally launched exclusively for households previously placed on the waiting list from an earlier grant cycle. However, the response from those original applicants was lower than anticipated, leaving available funding for other applicants. As a result, the City is now opening JHAP‑3 to any qualifying household, regardless of prior application status. Assistance is only available for homes located within Joplin city limits.

Owning a Home is one of the most rewarding things a person can do for themselves or for their families. My concern is it seems we have another Governmental Program of Giveaways, paid for by Hardworking Taxpayers.
We have got to STOP the Government from using Our Tax Dollars for all these Governmental Programs / Giveaways - If the Government has Extra Money - They need to Lower or Reduce Our Tax Bills and let the ones that Earned the Money in the First Place Keep it and use what is left to support the Infrastructure of the Country - STOP ALL THESE FREE GIVEAWAYS - THEY ARE NOT FREE, SOMEONE IS HELPING PAY FOR THEM AND IT SURE IS HELL NOT THE GOVERNMENT, BUT THE HARDWORKING TAXPAYERS!

If you want a House - Work Hard (Get 2-Jobs and Save Up for it) learn the difference between - "Wants and Needs", Stop Buying - the Latest and Newest Trends, $10.00 Cups of Coffee-Twice Daily, $1,200 Phones every year, and $50,000 Cars that Depreciate the Minute you drive it off the Car Lot, and Maxing Out your Credit Cards to live the Life you're Not Paying For - Get Smart with Money and Savings - STOP LYING TO YOURSELF - IF YOU WANT A HOUSE.

    1. That's right!

      Wants and needs.

I've stuck to buying $15,000 new cars ever since they were less than $2,000 new cars.

It's all been downhill since they stopped selling the Pinto.

Commie pinkos complaining about exploding gas tanks and cars that don't stop. Then they made it so all the tires are radial instead of round. Also they made it hard to find your points and condensers so you can do your tuneups.

Don't even get me started about crash tests! Or rust.

So if people had just stopped buying new cars that cost more than $10,000 or houses more than $40,000 then things would be differrnt!

I am so glad for the JHAP program and taking people like 6:43’s tax money. Waiting the decade out miserable. Selling for twice the value, pocketing that money and moving as far away from small minded small town fools like 6:43. Truly blessed.

Maybe people need to live within their means. Work for what you buy and save up stop living off of the government and realize any money you get from the government is actually coming from taxpayers. Which a lot of us would like to keep some for our retirements.

7:25PM, Sounds like you are Brilliant - Do you not think that the Price of Houses have Doubled no matter where you go? I see your education and knowledge speaks for itself! Good Luck buying a Home somewhere else - Southern Missouri has some of the lowest cost of Housing and Taxes in the Nation But go right ahead move away - you just brought the local Intelligence Quotient up a few points.

As for using our Tax Dollars for all these Governmental Programs, why should the majority of us hardworking taxpayers cover the cost for people that: Do not want to work, are too lazy to work, do not want to sacrifice and save, or just continue to get pregnant by multiple men and live off of others - knowing that some people - the disabled, the veterans, and the elders - do deserve taxpayers help, but a lot of people on Governmental Programs neither deserve or should be getting it.

If several of these people would stop spending all their money on their drugs, their alcohol, their gambling, their partying, their cloths, their nails, their eyebrows, their face injections, their hair weaves, etc., etc., etc., and save your money so you may have better life for themselves and their children. The people of America are tired of supporting those that continue to ask for handouts, when these people keep digging bigger holes for themselves, we have to stop the cycle of generational families living of the government. Everyone needs a hand up at some time in their life, but not for the rest of their natural born lives, break the cycle get educated or get training, get a job and live within your means, not off the backs of others. That is not what America is about, being a slave and living off the government, which is on the backs of the taxpayers. Respect yourself enough to build your own future and life.

What do you clowns think Joplin would have been like after the tornado without this program? Magic bootstraps didn’t get the tax base rebuilt in no time. Aid for down payment and people vetted given a forgivable loan for a down payment. People that have to meet stringent guidelines and provide years and years of tax and bank statements as well as qualifying for a bank loan for the remainder. Absolute fools harping on their spoon fed talking points. I’d love to see how the neighborhoods would look right now that are thriving again without that program.
