(By Seventh District Congressman Eric Burlison)On Thursday, I introduced the Great American Healthcare Plan, a comprehensive reform to lower costs and put Americans back in control of their health care.
My legislation would expand access to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), allowing more Americans to save and spend their healthcare dollars tax-free—while also increasing contribution limits and giving families more flexibility in how those funds are used. It also requires hospitals and insurers to provide real, upfront pricing in dollars and cents, ensuring patients can see the cost of care before they receive it.
The plan goes further by allowing HSA funds to be used for preventative and wellness expenses, like healthy food and fitness, while promoting competition across the healthcare marketplace to help drive down costs. It also strengthens billing transparency, requiring clear, itemized bills so that patients know exactly what they are paying for.
Health care should work like every other part of the economy—transparent, competitive, and driven by the individual. This plan is about restoring that principle and putting patients back in charge.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), or "Obamacare," was one of the most ill-conceived blundered Medical Care / Coverage Programs ever.
ReplyDeleteProblems with Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) center on significantly higher premiums and deductibles, limited provider networks, and reduced insurer competition in some areas, leaving many, particularly middle-class families, with high out-of-pocket costs. While expanding coverage, the law has seen exchange enrollment below projections, high taxpayer costs for subsidies, and increased healthcare spending. Want to Pay more for Medical Insurance and Costs and Receive Less Services - Just have the Democrats Design a Medical Care Act - that FORCES YOU TO BE PART OF THEIR SYSTEM!
Not only did Obamacare originally include an "individual mandate" that forced most Americans to have health insurance or pay a tax penalty, often called a fine. This penalty was designed to encourage participation in the insurance market to keep premiums stable, with costs increasing significantly between 2014 and 2018. Yes, the Democrats FORCED You to have and pay for Medical Insurance, by charging you a FINE!
521, a diatribe of utter BS. Dems developed a plan to make Healthcare affordable to all Americans. What have mags/pubs been doing for the last 10 years (while controlling congress) to improve Healthcare? Not a damn thing. Mags only care about cheating at elections, guns, immigrants, and lgbtq issues. It'll take several generations to repair the damage caused by the maga cult and the orange pedo you call your president...he's not mine.
DeleteCan all you rightwing nuts now see the truth about trump? He has no idea what the hell he's doing, furthermore, his own goons keep him out of harms way when making important decisions because he's inept and a danger to society. We told you so, but you just wouldn't listen.
DeleteThat plan doesn't cut it for people making less than 100k. The rest of us living paycheck to pay paycheck do not have extra funds to participate. That leaves a huge part of the population vulnerable and will lead to deaths
DeleteI guess it sucks to suck. ObamaCare was great for me and my family.
Delete5:21 and the Republicans added what legislation to the Affordable Care Act? So no insurance was better than the Affordable Care? Because insurance’s were kicking people off left and right if you became diagnosed with numerous different conditions, refusing to cover other conditions because they claimed they were suddenly preexisting conditions. To kick people off their insurance plans, they claimed not to have received payment, whether through the mail or by repeatedly checking your bank account balance on automatic payments, until they were able to try and withdraw it when you were slightly below the amount to cover it. Then when you contacted the State Health Insurance Commissioner, you got no where, even though they tried to take out the payment amount 2 weeks before it was due. Once you lost your health insurance due to preexisting conditions and non payment, you could not find coverage through any other insurance. They would tell you to sign up for the State Insurance which was $500.00 per month, with a $10,000 deductible plus it would not cover your preexisting health conditions. This was back in 1993. A lot of employers were no longer offering health insurance and if they did it barely covered anything plus the price was ridiculous high.
ReplyDeleteThis so called Health Plan that is being referred to in this article, is just a joke. You save your money and pay your own healthcare bills. How with money being as tight as it is for most families, are they able to put money in to a health care savings plan that will cover catastrophic medical expenses, such as cancer, pregnancy or even a child with a broken bone. Yes the Affordable Care Act, has its faults but it’s still better than anything else. Even employers have stepped up due to the Affordable Care Act, when they weren’t previously, even though it took legislation to make that happen. You can complain all you want about the Affordable Care Act or Obama Care but it’s still better than what we had before, no thanks to the Republicans trying to tear it down and repeal it.
It's the same party of tools and fools that elects a presidunce that helps you put food on your family and who also observes “Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?”

ReplyDeleteHe’s more effective as the asshat with a flamethrower. This is just stupid and will get nowhere fast
ReplyDeleteDemoncrats - Again, do you want to refute the TRUTH AND FACTS about - The Affordable Care Act (ACA), or "Obamacare"? Just like Obama - AKA - "Deporter-N-Chief", Deported more Illegal Aliens than any other President - and over 56 people died in his Deportation Process - Yet No - "DDDD" - "Delusional Disgraceful Dumb Demoncrats", were out being Paid to Protest - WHY - DEMOS - WHY - DEMOS???

DeleteThe PPPP 927 with even more prolifically preposterous putridness. I choose to not even read this steaming pile of malignant, deplorable manure as the stench alone, is comparable to the state of republican (mis)affairs....Iran, the economy, the environment, and of course, not to be dismissed (as the magats currently are) the rapid mental deterioration of the orange peel. Hey PPPP, check out what your man tucker carlson now says about trump and the magat party. You may now assume your position!
DeleteGas prices are at their highest level since the pandemic.
ReplyDeleteInflation is surging.
Grocery prices are near record highs.
Housing costs are through the roof.
Good paying jobs are hard to find.
Does that sound like a golden age to you?
Try to answer that one (1200) PPPP! You can only sound like a total idiot if you throw your Democratic Derangement Syndrome at the question. Please do!
Delete3:52 your comment is barely coherent and definitely irrelevant to the article. Perhaps you should have stayed in school and laid off the koolaid.
DeleteI really dig kool-aid, strawberry is my fav. You should give it a swig 628, sounds like you might want to add some excitement to your life instead of being spread out all day on your lazyboy recliner and doing all that heavy lifting of the remote control.
