Jasper County Republicans choose Louise Secker as 161st District candidate

The Jasper County Republican Central Committee announces that the 161st Legislative District Committee has unanimously selected Louise Secker as the Republican nominee for Missouri House District 161 in the November 3rd general election. 

The selection follows the withdrawal of Thomas Ross who recently signed the necessary petition for court order requesting the removal of his name from the ballot. This allowed the Republican nominating committee to proceed with selecting a replacement nominee. 

The 161st Legislative District Committee, comprised of Republican representatives from the district, met to consider the nomination and unanimously selected Secker to represent the Republican Party in the November election. 

“Louise has demonstrated her commitment to the people of House District 161 through her years of service to our community,” said Lynn Ragsdale, Chair of the Jasper County Republican Central Committee. 

“The committee came together, followed the process, and unanimously selected Louise Secker to carry the Republican nomination forward. We are grateful for her willingness to step forward and serve.” 

Secker previously sought the Republican nomination for House District 161 in the August 4 primary, finishing second in a very closely contested race separated by only 33 votes. 

Following today’s unanimous decision, the Jasper County Republican Central Committee will work with Secker and the appropriate election officials to complete the remaining steps necessary for her name to appear as the Republican nominee on the November general election ballot. 

“We are focused on moving forward,” Ragsdale said. “Our priority is to ensure the voters of House District 161 have a Republican candidate who is prepared to work hard, listen to the people of this district, and represent them with integrity and dedication.”
