Empire District Electric Company, Joplin, today declared a quarterly dividend of 32 cents per share on common stock payable June 15 to holders of record as of June 1, according to the quarterly report filed today with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company reported a first quarter loss of $200,000 or one cent per share, compared to $1.6 million in earnings for the same quarter in 2004, according to the report.
For the 12 months ending March 31, earnings were $20 million or 78 cents per share, compared to $25.4 million, $1.08 per share the previous year.
Revenues were up $2.3 million in the first quarter. Electric revenues increased by $1.5 million, according to the report.
At the same time, earnings dropped, due to increases in fuel and purchased power costs, the report said.
