Reports are coming from Newton County sources that Tim Darch, former owner of the Ritchey House in Newtonia (a mansion that was used as a hospital during the Civil War) has bought Red Oak II near Carthage.
Red Oak II is artist Lowell Davis' recreation of the original Red Oak where he grew up. Davis moved several of the structures from Red Oak to the new location, which became a tourist attraction until Davis closed it several years back.
Darch's plans for the facility are uncertain.
