Whether he will end up being tarred by the same brush is a matter of speculation, but today's New York Times reports that Seventh District Congressman Roy Blunt owes his status to Majority Whip to beleaguered Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
The Times says House Speaker Dennis Hastert had his own candidate for Majority Whip, but DeLay pushed Blunt and the other candidate fell by the wayside.
On the other hand, if the DeLay situation worsens, Blunt could be poised to move into the Majority Leader position.
