While some East Newton High School graduates simply spent a lot of time at the computer blogging (guess who), some others are moving up in the world.
Empire District Electric Company announced April 28 that Laurie Delano, the former Laurie Hildebrand, will become controller and principal accounting officer as of Aug. 1. She was also elected to the positions of assistant secretary and assistant treasurer, according to a company news release.
Darryl L. Coit, who currently holds those positions, is retiring effective July 31.
According to the news release, Ms. Delano has been director of financial services and assistant controller of Empire District Electric since 2002, when she rejoined the company after previously working there between 1979 and 1991.
She has also been at different times plant controller at Lozier Corporation, manager of cost and project accounting at TAMKO, and an accounting lecturer at Pittsburg State University.
Ms. Delano graduated from East Newton in 1973.
