The Springfield media scene has taken a big hit during the past few days with the resignations of longtime KYTV anchor Tony Beason and Springfield News-Leader sports columnists.
Beason had been the anchor for the top-rated news program in Springfield for the past two decades, while Puryear was probably about the second sports reporter in southwest Missouri to actually get in and interview players as well as coaches. (For those of you who remember my more than 1,000 Sports Talk columns, I will give you three guesses as to who the first one was.)
I am not sure what Beason is going to be doing, but Puryear has taken a job with Drury University.
