Blunt opposes schools' lawsuit

Governor Matt Blunt came out strongly today against the schools, including many in this area, that are continuing a lawsuit against the state government, claiming inequities in funding for education.
The governor said officials from those schools are "simply trying to force a massive tax increase on Missouri," according to Missourinet. Blunt says the formula changes enacted by the state legislature this year will improve education for Missourians.
Area schools involved in the lawsuit include Avilla, Carl Junction, Carthage, Nevada, Webb City, Jasper, McDonald County, Monett, Mount Vernon, Seneca, East Newton, Diamond, and Cassville.
