Schools to continue lawsuit against state

Despite the passage of a new funding bill for Missouri public schools, the Committee for Educational Equality, a group of more than 250 schools, will continue its court challenge against the state over inadequate school funding, according to an Associated Press article.
The lawsuit claims the foundation formula, under which Missouri schools are funded, is unfair and does not provide enough money.
The lawsuit will be amended by the end of the month to deal with the new plan, lawyer Alex Bartlett said Tuesday, according to the article.
The list of school districts suing the state includes the following area schools: Avilla, Carl Junction, Carthage, Nevada, Webb City, Jasper, McDonald County, Monett, Mount Vernon, Seneca, East Newton, Diamond, and Cassville.
Cole County Circuit Court records indicate that those suing the state, in addition to the school districts, are a number of individuals, including Kenneth Williams, Cathy Williams, Elizabeth Williams, Bill Hodge, Debbie Hodge, and Grady Hodge, all of Jasper.
