A reader posed an excellent question about the so-called confession that suspected serial killer Jeremy Jones made about the deaths of two Oklahoma girls and the subsequent disposal of their bodies.
Was the confession taped? If it was, then that pretty much strips away any news value from Jones' denial of the confession. However, it has been six days since he said he did not confess and no one has jumped forward to produce any evidence that he did.
I still question KSN's decision to run Tiffany Alaniz' interview with Jones over several nights. It doesn't appear that much is being added to the story each night...not enough at least to warrant spreading it out over multiple newscasts.
On the other hand, it is the type of local story that draws interest...and therefore viewers...so who can blame KSN?
I understand what you mean about dragging the interviews out, but I've watched both of them and they weren't the same. Plus KSN has a major score with this interview and to listen to some of the crap he says is unbelievable, don't know how Alaniz could keep a straight face. with the search set to begin next week the anticipation can only be built more by KSN'S interview..while the other two stations sit back and watch...and wonder why they didn't try for an interview too.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Different information was included each day. And it was a major coup for KSN and Ms. Alaniz (as well as for the Joplin Globe's Jeff Lehr).
ReplyDeletejones confessed, it was taped, now he is denying he confessed, whats the big deal?If it was taped , he cant deny. I want to know if they taped his confession to the death of my son, Justin Hutchings, I would like to see it.It is a law now that all confessions be taped for future references.
