Congressman recalls Larry Gene Taylor

The following news release was issued by Seventh District Congressman Roy Blunt after the death of State Sen. Larry Gene Taylor, R-Shell Knob:

Southwest Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt is saddened by the passing of State Senator Larry Gene Taylor. Taylor, who was elected in November to represent the 29th senatorial district, died Wednesday in Joplin.
“I remember the first time I met Larry Taylor. He had just returned from the 1972 National Republican Party Convention where he was the youngest delegate,“ Blunt said, “I have benefited from and appreciated his friendship since that day."Blunt added, "Larry shared his father's love of politics and public service. He was a strong advocate for Southwest Missouri in the general assembly as a member of both the House and Senate."
Larry Taylor’s father, Gene, was Seventh District Congressman from 1973 until his retirement in 1989.
