Amendments to the employment contract for Gannett Co. CEO Douglas H. McCorkindale were filed earlier this month with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Gannett, which owns approximately 100 daily newspapers, including USA Today and the Springfield News-Leader, will pay McCorkindale at least $1.6 million annually with the contract, which is officially renewed today through July 15, 2006. If the board of directors wants to pay him more, it can, the contract stipulates.
