The Joplin Globe is looking for reporters, according to an ad placed with www.journalismjobs.com Thursday.
The ad reads, "Seeking beat reporters who want to work in an aggressive, award-winning newsroom where they can launch a career or pursue their love for the craft of journalism. Successful candidates would report on a variety of subjects ranging from politics, to the environment, to education. We reward energy, enthusiasm and enterprise. Send resumes to Metro Editor Carol Stark, P.O. Box 7, Joplin, Mo., 64802 or cstark@joplinglobe.com."
I must have missed the advertisement for reporters in The Joplin Globe itself. I checked through the Globe classifieds on their website and apparently Globe officials either must not feel their advertising reaches enough homes to do any good or they figure the kind of person they want to hire is the kind of person who doesn't read the Globe.
On the other hand, KSNF is advertising for a reporter and is using the classified section of the Globe. The tv station's advertisement reads: "KSNF-TV is searching for a reporter. In addition to reporting skills, must also possess the desire and ability to anchor. Forward cover letter, resume and non-returnable VHS tape to: Larry Young, News Director, KSNF-TV, P.O. Box 1393, Joplin, MO 64801 EOE published: 2005-07-15"
The KSN job is to fill the spot left open by Courtney Cullor.
