KODE anchor debuts

KODE's new anchor Brian Hamman seems professional, well-spoken and comfortable as he settles in on the evening news.
I am rather curious about why KODE felt the need to put his name before Tara Brown's on the intro. That seems a slap in the face for someone with seniority at the station. Or is it just a sexist tradition that the man's name always comes first?
If anyone knows, leave a comment for me.

It's not always the guy first- some markets include the woman first, take WBIR-TV in Knoxville, TN for example, on the website, yeah, the guy's pic is before the girls at the top...but in the open, it lists the woman first and then the man - and the man has seniority...Another station, WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee - morning show lists the girl first, then the guy, then the weather guy... small market television just seems to stay more traditional. Plus, she hasn't been there too terribly long as it is...

On 16's morning news Ana comes before their weather guy.

See, I think that's part of tradition as well...most morning shows traditionally (not always) have a male weather anchor and female host - the weather anchor is always considered the co-host and then the news anchor is the host of the show, and that's why the girl comes first in a morning show situation. But for late night news, the tradition is just the opposite.

Pay attention Brian, this is the last nice thing Turner will say about you. Enjoy it while it lasts.

  7. Hmm. I hadn't realized that I had ssid something nice. I will try not to let myself slip again. The comments that was made earlier about the difference in the way the anchors are listed on the morning and evening newscasts is right on the button. Even on Live with Gary and Tiffany, the man is listed first, even though Gary is doing weather and not news.Back to my first comment, the negative criticism seems to attract the most attention, but if you look over my postings, you will discover that, if you leave out my criticisms of Nexstar as a company, my comments about the news personnel at KODE, KSNF, and KOAM have been pretty balanced.

While we are talking about the local media (can't find a better place to put this), Zimmer Radio is adding two AM stations. Rumor has it, one will be sports talk!
