La-z-Boy annual meeting planned

It looks like a hot race is on tap for four seats on the La-Z-Boy Inc. Board of Directors.
When the annual meeting is held, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the company auditorium in Monroe, Mich., stockholders will have a chance to vote on four candidates for those four three-year positions, according to information filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission today.
The four candidates, all of whom seem to have a good chance to be elected are:
-Kurt Darrow, 50, La-Z-Boy CEO since September 2003
-James W. Johnston, 66, private investor
-H. George Levy, 56, CEO and founder of EndueNet, Inc., which provides electronic medical records for doctors and hospitals
-Donald L. Mitchell, 61, senior vice president of the company's Casegoods Division until his retirement in October 2001.
The stockholders will also ratify the selection of Price-WaterhouseCoopers LLP as the company's accounting firm for fiscal year 2006, according to the filing.
La-Z-Boy, of course, employs more than 1,000 at its plant in Neosho.
