I just read the good news in Diamond High School junior Alicia Bradley's blog, www.writingkills.blogspot.com that her former classmate, and my former student, Alex Chavana, whose family moved to Mississippi, is safe from Katrina.
She and her family left for Vicksburg before Katrina hit. Of course, they have no idea what their home is going to be like when they return.
I am sure there are thousands in this area who have friends and loved ones in the areas hit by Katrina. Just like 9-11, this is one of those catastrophes that will have a lasting effect on everyone.
