One hundred thirty-eight more bankruptcy filings were recorded Saturday and today at the Joplin branch of the Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Missouri. Changes in the U. S. bankruptcy laws making it more difficult to erase debt are scheduled to go into effect Monday.
Why don't you post the bankruptcy filings for your blog readers? I know that you get it from a web site, but it's a paid web site that most of us haven't subscribed to. This would be a real service to your readers.
ReplyDeleteI did consider that at one point, but I decided against it. I run information about bankruptcies when they concern businesses, people who are in the news, or people who are trusted with handling taxpayers' money. Examples of that have been Benji Trammel, who was one of the Turnpike killers from 1994, Keith McBride of Coin-Op, who was charged with arson in federal court, and former Joplin City Councilman Jim West, whose bankruptcy I wrote about in the inital website version of The Turner Report five years ago. It is public knowledge and it should be printed. The Joplin Globe does print the complete listings in its business section, and I will continue to monitor the listings for stories similar to the ones I mentioned above.
