Governor to announce education initiative
Governor Matt Blunt will announce an education initiative during a speech today in Springfield, according to the Springfield News-Leader. The governor's office released no details about the initiative.
Heating, electricity , and gas to run school buses is not included in the 65% classroom teaching plan. That's why the plan should be deep sixed.
Twenty+ years ago, the monthly electrical bill of a restaurant that seated about 70 people was $2,000 a month. Perhaps you can find out how much electricity, heating and busing is per month. I am sure it is staggering.
The only way this might work would be to go back to small, neighborhood schools that children could walk to. It does make a good soundbite though.
What always concerns me is how much paperwork the government is going to require to prove that this strict formula is being followed. That is what has driven up administrative costs for school districts.
You might want to go here and take a look at their take on it.
