Association battles NFL ruling

The Radio Television News Directors Association has launched a campaign to convince the NFL to overturn last week's ruling prohibiting local television crews from shooting footage at NFL games, according to Radio and Television Business Report.
The ruling would prevent stations such as KODE, KOAM, and KSNF from shooting footage at Kansas City Chiefs or St. Louis Rams games and force them to rely on the NFL for video. Still photographers, such as those representing area newspapers, are not affected by the ruling.
In a letter to NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, RTNDA President Barbara Cochran said the policy discriminates against television photographers and goes against the American tradition of a free press.
