Petition filed to strip Nexstar, Mission of Springfield stations

Cable America Corporation has filed a petition with the FCC to deny applications for license renewal for KSFX, the Nexstar Broadcasting affiliate in Springfield, and KOLR, the Mission Broadcasting affiliate, which is operated by Nexstar.
The petition was mentioned in Mission Broadcasting's annual report, filed Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mission also allegedly owns KODE in Joplin, while Nexstar manages KODE and owns KSNF.
"Cable America has alleged that Nexstar’s local service agreement arrangements with us give Nexstar improper control over our operations. We and Nexstar submitted a joint opposition to this Petition to Deny and Cable America submitted a reply," the report said.
"We began to submit renewal of license applications for our stations beginning in April 2005 and will continue to do so through April 2007. We expect the FCC to renew the licenses for our stations in due course."
