Stevenson bill may be a center of controversy
Birth control appears to be a hot-button issue in the Missouri Legislature this year, according to political analyst Jo Mannies' article in today's St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and one of the bills causing the controversy is HB1539, sponsored by Rep. Bryan Stevenson, R-Webb City, the so-called "Health Care Rights of Conscience Act," which would enable health care professionals and pharmacists to not participate in any health care practice that violates their beliefs.
At the present time, Stevenson's bill is not on the calendar. Other bills have also been filed with similar intent.
