Ballot shortage affecting Jasper County

It appears Jasper County election officials were caught off guard by the heavy voter turnout. I have heard reports from friends who voted at various Joplin precincts of ballot shortages, and I just received an e-mail from a reader who told me of serious problems at the Briarbrook Country Club polling place in Carl Junction:

I went to vote in Carl Junction (at Briarbrook) tonight, but they came
out and told us that they were out of ballots. This was at 5:20. Someone had gone to Carthage 90 minutes before to pick up additional ballots, but this person hadn't returned yet. They recommended that we go home, but return before 7:00. They said if we were in the door by 7:00, we could vote (assuming they have the
ballots at this time).

Think how bad things would be if the court hadn't ruled that the photo voter ID law was unconstitutional.
