Platte County Auditor Sandra Thomas, the Republican candidate for state auditor, had a great day in the fundraising department Wednesday, picking up $20,895, including $12,750 from the Republican Sixth District Committee.
Sixth District Committee records on file with the Missouri Ethics Commission show more than $17,000 was contributed to the committee in two installments, one on Oct. 2, and the other on Oct. 30 by Axiom Strategies, the political consulting firm that is running the Thomas campaign.
As has been noted numerous times in The Turner Report, Axiom Strategies is operated by Jeff Roe, a former staffer for Congressman Sam Graves, who along with Governor Matt Blunt have been Thomas' biggest backers.
Ms. Thomas' other contributions Wednesday included $1,275 from CKE Restaurants, Anaheim, Calif., a company which has numerous fast food subsidiaries, including Hardee's and Carl's, and $1,275 from William Clark "Buddy" Hardin IV of St. Charles.
The eight days before election reports filed by the state auditor candidates showed Ms. Thomas with $238,769.35 available and her opponent, Democrat Susan Montee with $115,360.34.
