The latest results posted at the Missouri secretary of state's site show the vote tightening for Amendment 2, the stem cell initiative. It still holds a slim lead with 31,956 votes or 50.5 percent of the vote, to 31,287 or 49.5 percent with 108 out of 3,734 precincts reporting.
Jim Talent maintained his narrow margin over Claire McCaskill in the U. S. Senate race, with 33,532 votes or 49.2 percent, to 32,177 or 47.2 percent for McCaskill. Minor candidates share the remainder of the vote.
Susan Montee has opened up a 4,000 plus vote over Sandra Thomas for state auditor, collecting 33,860 votes, 51.1 percent, to 29,757 votes, 44.9 percent for Thomas.
Ike Skelton and Roy Blunt hold large advantages early with Skelton leading Republican Jim Noland 66 percent to 30 percent, and Blunt garnering 69 percent of the vote, but with only one out of 290 precincts reporting. He has 405 votes to 165 for Democrat Jack Truman and 16 for Kevin Craig, the Libertarian candidate.
