Hunter campaign account kicks into overdrive
Rep. Steve Hunter, R-Joplin's last two campaign disclosure reports featured no contributions, but he made up for that in the just-released 30 days after election report.
The report indicates Hunter's campaign went into overdrive after it was already over. Since the election, Hunter has received $12,200 in contributions.
Hunter, who was a member of a School Choice (you can read that as voucher euphemism) Committee appointed by Speaker of the House Rod Jetton, naturally received a maximum $325 contribution from leading voucher proponent All Children Matter.
Others chipping in with the maximum amount were:
QC Holdings, Overland Park, Kan., MOSFA PAC, Jefferson City; Hallmark Cards, Kansas City; Pfizer, New York, N. Y., Nodler Leadership PAC, Committee to Elect Ron Richard, Home Building Industry PAC, St. Louis; Independent Electrical Contractors PAC< Bridgeton; HCA Good Government Fund, Jefferson City; Freeman Physicians Group PAC< Joplin; Harrah's Operating Company, Memphis, Tenn.; Partners for Leadership, Springfield; Ford Motor Company Civic Action Fund, Kansas City; Union Pacific Railroad, Omaha, Neb.; Burlington Northern Railroad, Fort Worth, Texas; Burns and McDonnell, Warsaw; Penn National Gaming, Wyomissing, PA.
Other contributions included: Casey's General Stores, Ankeny, Iowa, $100; Waste Management, Houston, Texas, $200; Missouri Hospital Association PAC, Jefferson City, $200; Merck & Co., Syracuse, N. Y., $300; Roy Cagle, lobbyist, Joplin, $100; American Insurance Association, Jefferson City, $200; Missouri State Chiropractors Association, Jefferson City, $150; St. John's Family PAC, Joplin, $300; Missouri Restaurant Association, St. Louis, $250; Motor Carrier Public Affairs, Eldon, $300; 7-Eleven, Dallas, Texas, $300; Northwest PAC, Albany, Mo., $200; Builders Association, Kansas City, $250.
Hunter's largest contribution, $3,200, came from the 127th District Legislative Committee.
