While I am saddened that GateHouse Media saw a need for cutting costs by eliminating Ron Graber as general manager/managing editor at The Carthage Press, it is good to see John Ford receive an opportunity to be the head man at Neosho.
Ford has been one of the most underrated reporters in southwest Missouri for years. Here's hoping he has a long and successful reign at the Daily.
John Ford is solid and deserves a shot. The Neosho Daily News has been equally solid, while the Carthage Press has suffered from poor editing and design decisions.
ReplyDeleteThe Carthage Press just got sloppy and these guys took the heat because they led the staff.
Buzz Ball will do well because he has Hacker. But who will fill John Ford's shoes for him at Neosho? Someone needs to step up or John will have to find a new, young workhorse.
John Ford will fill the editor's chair quite nicely in Neosho.
ReplyDeleteJohn Ford and filling any chair is never done "nicely."
ReplyDeleteGraber was gone a long time ago. Neosho head man Rick Rogers had been looking to toast this dude for awhile...according to someone who works there. The entire Carthage paper was a mess because they weren't willing to hire a competent crew. They were just hoping to use some stop-gap hires to make everything run. The Carthage Press has become the equivalent of the Kansas City Royals organization. And David Glass is at the top.
ReplyDeleteNP from KC has a lot to say and very little between his legs.
