The powerful Gamble & Schlemeier lobbying firm of Jefferson City accounted for nearly half of the campaign contributions reported by Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, on his April disclosure form, filed Saturday with the Missouri Ethics Commission. The contributions totaled $3,300 out of the $6,925 Nodler has received since 30 days after election report. Adding the contributions of three other lobbyists or lobbying firms raise the total to $4,950.
On Dec. 29, Gamble & Schlemeier clients Missouri Dental PAC and Southwest Missouri Dental PAC each contributed $500, with the rest of the contributions, $1,000 from Missouri Health Care Association PAC, $650 from Missouri Physicians Assistant PAC, and $650 from Missouri Pharmacy PAC, coming on Jan. 2.
William Gamble and Jorgen Schlemeier's company did not provide the only contributions Nodler received from lobbyists. The disclosure documetns indicate he received $500 from Michael Winter, lobbyist for Ameren and Blue Cross Blue Shield, $500 from Brent Hemphill & Associates, the lobbying firm which represents the Alliance for School Choice and AT&T, and $650 from state representative turned lobbyist Jewell Patek's Patek & Associates firm which represents Southeast Missouri State University. Nodler, of course, is the chairman of the powerful Senate Education Committee. He also received a $125 contribution from university president Ken Dobbins.
Other contributions reported by Nodler include:
Isle of Capri Casinos $650, Coca Cola Committee for Good Government $250, Dr. Stephen Reintjes, Mission Hills, Kan., $650; and Jasper County Assessor Donald Davis, Carthage, $300.
The disclosure from showed Nodler contributed $1,000 to his former campaign treasurer Tom Flanigan's campaign for state representative, and $500 to the campaign account of Ron Richard, R-Joplin.
Nodler has $102,560.06 in his account.
