Nexstar CEO receives honor

Nexstar Broadcasting CEO Perry Sook received the Broadcaster of the Year award from the Pennsylvania Broadcast Association Sunday:

Sook was recognized for leading Nexstar Broadcasting to the forefront of the broadcast industry. Nexstar’s handling of stations’ websites and cable fees are now models for other broadcasters.

For Perry Sook, it’s the next challenge to overcome.

“We think that local television, not only local content, the local news that you and all of our news people do across the state is the preferred programming across all of the screens, and we think our company is at best when we are pioneering innovations to make that content available to consumers when they want it, not when we are scheduled to give it to them,” said Sook.

Nexstar Broadcasting owns KSNF in Joplin and KSFX in Springfield and is de facto owner of KODE in Joplin and KOLR in Springfield.

I think his biggest challenge continues to be cutting budgets even more and reducing morale when he as already done so much to both.
