Anderson Guest House owner's appeal dismissed

Wire services are reporting that Anderson Guest House owner Laverne Dupont's appeal to maintain her license was dismissed today after she failed to show for a hearing before the state's Administrative Hearing Commission.

From reports that emerged shortly after last November's fire at the Anderson facility in which 11 people were killed, it was obvious that Mrs. Dupont and her Joplin River of Life Ministries were simply disguises for her husband Robert Dupont's continued management of it and other Guest House facilities.

By law, Robert Dupont was not allowed to run group homes because of his federal conviction for defrauding Medicare and Medicaid.

Today's dismissal applies only to the Anderson facility. Separate hearings are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for the Duponts' other Guest House facilities.
